I was in federal prison with Dale in tx/ he is well and here is an article you might be interested in:Nov. 8 , 2007 THE WOODLANDS MAN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY (HOUSTON, Texas) – Dale Eric Beckham, 34, of The Woodlands, Texas, has been sentenced to more than 17 years in federal prison, without parole, for transporting images of child pornography to Canada, United States Attorney Don DeGabrielle announced today. Beckham was sentenced to a 210-month prison term Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007, by U.S. District Judge Melinda Harmon to be followed by a lifetime of supervision by the U.S. Probation Department. Court ordered to register as a sex offender, Beckham must refrain from being in places where minors are present and from the use of computers and the Internet for the rest of his life as a condition of his supervised release. Beckham was convicted of transporting child pornography after pleading guilty to the federal felony offense in July 2007, one of two charges filed against him by indictment. The second charge, possession of child pornography, was dismissed following the sentencing hearing. At the time of his re-arraignment in July 2007, the United States proffered evidence to the court showing Beckham transported images of child pornography to Canada March 5, 2005, and possessed child pornography on his computer at his residence March 11, 2005. Beckham was arrested March 6, 2005, in Ottawa, Canada, and initially charged with luring a 14-year-old boy he met over the Internet to a hotel room, where they had sex. Beckham traveled from The Woodlands to Ottawa with a laptop computer and a digital camera which were seized upon his arrest by Canadian officers for luring and pornography charges. Beckham pleaded guilty to Canadian charges involving the possession of child pornography images and was sentenced in November 2005 to time served since his March 6, 2005, arrest. Thereafter, the Canadian government deported Beckham and banned him from returning to Canada for one year. During Wednesday afternoon’s hearing, the court heard several hours of expert testimony offered by the defense in support of their claim that Beckham had diminished capacity and was deserving of a sentence lower than the 210-month term derived from the application of the advisory U.S. sentencing guidelines to his criminal conduct. That claim was denied.
Beckham has been in federal custody without bond since his arrest Nov. 24, 2005, upon his return to the Houston area from Canada. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials found nearly 1400 images of child pornography on his computers including pictures of adults engaged in sexual activity with children younger than 12 years of age. The investigation leading to the charges was conducted by ICE special agents and was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Martha Minnis. This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse, launched in February 2006. Led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
